Physical Education


Key Stage 3 pupils at Portal House study Physical Education for four hours each week. Pupils have a two hour swimming block where they are instructed at a local pool and two, one hour PE lessons. A wide range of activities are covered in the PE lessons including: Football, Rugby, Basketball, Orienteering, Gymnastics, Badminton, Futsal, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Athletics, Ultimate Frisbee, Cricket, Tennis, Softball, Cycling and Athletics.

At Key Stage 4 Pupils Have two lessons of PE a week. One lesson is a practical session, focusing on the sports mentioned above, the other lesson is used to study both the practical and theory components of the Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Physical Education and Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Physical Education (Short Course).

Kit is provided for pupils at Portal House and all pupils are expected to fully participate in all PE lessons.

In addition to the PE lessons provided at Portal House, there are also regular sports fixtures arranged against other local schools.
